Representatives Earl Ehrhart (R-Powder Springs, District 36), Stacey Abrams (D-Atlanta, District 89), Penny Houston (R-Nashville, District 170), Ron Stephens (R-Savannah, District 164), Chuck Martin (R-Alpharetta, District 49), Sharon Cooper (R-Marietta, District 43) are sponsors of HB 929, the National Popular Vote bill that is in the Georgia House queue for a vote, possibly this week.
HB 929 will affect the process of future presidential elections by implementing a ‘winner-take-all’ rule. It is in your best interest to understand both sides of this argument before you contact your legislator.
The bill has bi-partisan support from Republicans, like those sponsoring the bill, as well as Democrats and has generated a great deal of discussion from around the state. Supporters believe it will make individual votes count more, while critics believe it will give high-density populations a much greater advantage over lessor populated ‘fly-over’ states.
